Welcome to Just Talk Agriculture
"Farming is easy" — far from it.
The long, gruelling hours, the solitude that often comes with working the land, the constant financial pressures, and the expectation to simply get on with things day after day, can all take a heavy toll.
It’s a demanding way of life that requires resilience, but even the toughest among us can feel the strain.
Too often in the farming community, we keep these struggles hidden. Whether through pride, habit, or fear of burdening others, many suffer in silence. But bottling things up only makes the weight heavier. The truth is, we all face challenges — and talking openly about them doesn’t make us weak; it makes us human.
Now more than ever, it’s time to break the silence. By starting honest conversations and supporting one another, we can help lift some of the pressure and remind ourselves that we’re not alone.
Through social media, we’re working to challenge the stigma around mental health and make a real difference to people’s lives. We collaborate with well-known figures in the industry to help share this message far and wide.
Just Talk Agri is a mental health awareness initiative founded with a clear and heartfelt mission: to support farmers and individuals working across the rural sector who may be struggling with their mental health. The initiative was started by Tom Ware, who was moved to take action following the tragic death of Len Eadon — a loss that deeply affected the agricultural community and highlighted the urgent need for more mental health support in rural areas.
Through honest conversations, community engagement, and ongoing awareness efforts, the initiative aims to let people know that it’s okay to not be okay — and most importantly, that help is always available. Whether it's through sharing personal stories, offering a listening ear, or simply reminding someone they’re not alone, Just Talk Agri stands as a beacon of support within the rural community.
At its core, this initiative is about connection, compassion, and conversation. It’s a space where people are encouraged to speak up, reach out, and support one another — because no one should ever feel alone in their struggles.
Just Talk Agri is proud to be working in collaboration with some of the UK’s leading mental health and rural support charities to further its mission of supporting mental wellbeing in the agricultural community. These partnerships bring together a passion to aid those whom need it most and national expertise, allowing the initiative to reach more people, offer better resources, and ensure that no one in the farming or rural sectors feels alone and isolated in their struggles.
By teaming up with established organisations, Just Talk Agri can help bridge the gap between those working on the ground and the professional support services available — making it easier for individuals to access the help they need, when they need it. Whether it's through joint campaigns, signposting support services, these collaborations amplify the message that it’s okay to talk, and it's okay to ask for help.
During the time Just Talk Agri has been running we have been involved in several projects. One of the most impressive and monumental projects we have been involved with was a tractor run which followed a 4000 mile route around the England, Scotland and Wales.
Helping to organise the run and find sponsors we worked alongside companies and yfc clubs to reach as many people as we could. The run also came after the tragic loss of Lincolnshire young farmer, Alec Newlove. Alec's unwavering love and drive for all things farming and young farmers is now reflected in his fathers efforts to raise more awareness for mental health within the sector. The tractor run was completed in Alec's memory.
Yellow Wellies are dedicated to making farming a safer industry while also championing mental health support for those who work the land. Their work is vital, tackling the unique pressures and risks faced by farmers and agricultural workers every day.
Leading the way towards better farm safety with their farm safety week and the 'mind your head' campaign.
For 13 years they have been organising a country wide learning week for collages, universities and farmers alike. Sharing real stories of the risks farming poses and what actions can be taken to mitigate accidents and fatalities in the workplace.
By doing this they have instigated real change within the farming sector with more people becoming aware of dangerous they may not previously have seen, both physically and mentally.
